Announcing Learning & Organizational Development at Tulane

With your feedback and to help keep pace with the rapidly changing demands of higher education, the decision to establish a unit charged with providing holistic learning and development opportunities at all levels of the university was announced by the Office of Human Resources.

Purpose and Strategy

The purpose of the Learning and Organizational Development Department is to build a foundation for a learning culture by focusing on enhancing competencies and behaviors needed to support Tulane’s mission and key objectives. By aligning our strategy with the university’s, we will position our employees to achieve key objectives by providing opportunities to obtain the skills needed for current challenges, while addressing the needs of the university into the future. Together, we can create a more satisfying place to work with a renewed commitment to Tulane’s mission of creating, communicating and conserving knowledge in order to enrich the capacity of individuals, organizations and communities to think, learn, act, and lead with integrity and wisdom.

Where We Are Beginning

The first step in building a culture of learning is to identify opportunities where employees can develop skills and knowledge. This includes an in-depth analysis of current learning programs, modifying to better align with our needs and adding programs where gaps may exist.  To this end, we conducted a learning needs assessment (LNA), the results and next steps are ready for review.
