Open Enrollment begins on October 14, which means it is time to start thinking about your 2020 Tulane benefits and making the best decisions for you and your family’s well-being.

As the landscape of healthcare continuously changes, our charge is to ensure that we offer a benefits package that is comprehensive, competitive, and with a partner who is able to support these goals and that of Tulane. With this in mind, the university has selected Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana (BCBSLA) as our new medical plan administrator for 2020. Blue Cross Blue Shield is Louisiana’s oldest and largest health insurer and with this partnership, you will continue to have access to quality healthcare options.

In addition to moving from United Healthcare to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana, we will also be introducing a third health plan option, a high deductible health plan with an attached health savings account. While our other two plans mirror the choices you are familiar with, this third option provides increased ownership and flexibility for managing healthcare expenses.

In an effort to make sure you all are knowledgeable about your choices, HR will be hosting a series of informational sessions online and in-person across all of the campuses. Join us October 2nd for Understanding High Deductible Health Plans, an online webinar, or in-person during the first week of Open Enrollment October 14-18. Registration for the in-person sessions is requested to ensure we can accommodate all who wish to participate. In addition, we will hold our annual benefits fairs for you to meet our benefits partners across the three main campuses October 22, 23, and 24.
