President's Departmental/Team Excellence Award

The President’s Departmental/Team Excellence Awards recognize outstanding teams and departments whose outstanding achievements contribute to and support Tulane’s mission, enhancing the university experience through innovation, collaboration, and excellence. Recipients will receive a one-time cash award and will be honored by President Fitts and the university for their exceptional efforts. Nomination Form

Eligibility

  • All part-time and full-time staff, administrators, faculty, and student employees are eligible for nomination of this award. 
  • Groups can be departmental, cross-departmental, interdisciplinary, committee or project team, etc.
  • Employees who received the award in the previous award cycle are not eligible for this year's award (i.e., if you won in 2024, you are not eligible in 2025).

Criteria

Works effectively as part of a department, team, or group to advance or support the university’s initiatives to transform the Tulane experience. Learn more about each initiative below.

  • Promoting Pathbreaking Research Across Disciplines – Provide exceptional support that enhances research efficiency, collaboration, and impact.
  • Enhancing the Student Experience – Foster a welcoming, engaging, and supportive environment that positively impacts student success.
  • Supporting Academic Excellence and Opportunity – Advances intellectual rigor, learning, and scholarship by expanding opportunities and creating a welcoming environment for all. 
  • Creating a Vibrant, Renewed Physical Campus – Maintain and enhance Tulane’s physical spaces to improve functionality, sustainability, and aesthetics.
  • Securing a Robust Financial Future for Tulane and New Orleans Optimize resources and implement financial efficiencies that contribute to long-term sustainability.

Nomination and Selection Process

1. All staff, administrators, faculty, students, and affiliates of Tulane are welcome to submit nominations during the annual call for nominations by following these instructions: ​​​

  • Groups can nominate themselves.
  • The nomination form should be thoroughly completed.
  • At least one letter of support should be included with specific examples of how the nominated group’s efforts achieved, advanced, or supported one of the goals listed above. Include the names of all group members.
  • Both the completed nomination form and letter(s) of support should be emailed to Will Ferbos, Vice President for University Relations and Deputy Chief of Staff, at ferbos@tulane.edu by close of business Monday, May 5, 2025.

2. Nominations are reviewed by the Office of Human Resources to verify that eligibility requirements have been met.

3. The Awards Committee reviews nominations and submits recommendations to the senior administration of the University for final approval.

4. Recipients are announced.

  • Individual recipients of a group or department will receive a monetary award that will be included in the recipient’s next regular paycheck
