The HCI Strategic Talent Acquisition Conference centered on showcasing how strategic talent acquisition drives real business impact, and how to leverage strategies, tactics and tools to deliver excellence at every stage of the recruiting lifecycle – from the moment a vacancy opens to new hire onboarding.

Besides networking with industry peers and learning the latest and greatest in talent acquisition, our team was named one of seven finalists for the Talent Acquisition Innovation Award, and were invited to deliver a presentation at the conference. Their participation focused on last fall’s launch of the newly redesigned hiring process (iReKREWT) with the end-goal to review and reimagine the hiring process in support of our vision to attract and retain you – innovative, well-qualified and diverse employees.

The presentation delivered by Jennifer Coursey and Ryan Navarre addressed four pivotal questions in designing (or redesigning) a process: The What, The Why, The How, and The Proof.

The What

  • Streamline and shortened approval workflow.
  • Modify system to support a recruiter model.
  • Minimize data entry and manual updates.

The Why (we listened to stakeholders’ feedback)

  • Too many steps in the process.
  • Have to re-enter duplicate information.
  • Realized there were over 37 steps in the process.
  • Time to hire could be up to 5-6 weeks.

The How

  • Conducted focus groups.
  • Cross functional project-team.
  • Software application needed to be optimized.

The Proof

  • Removed redundant steps that created “pain points”.
  • Removed non-essential steps to have a more efficient workflow.
  • Optimized the software to offer a more user-friendly hiring manager experience.
