In addition to classroom education, Tulane strives to support student learning outside of the classroom and foster real-world skills for post-graduation. Therefore, student employment is a natural extension to this learning. The Office of Human is excited to be launching new programs to enhance the student work experience.

Student Supervisor Training

The purpose of this training is to help staff and faculty define their role as supervisors and to provide tips and insights on how to better manage their student workers. Training topics will cover:

  • Student employment philosophy
  • Orientation and training
  • Managing performance
  • Motivating students
  • Helping students in crisis

Trainings are held on a monthly basis on the uptown and downtown campus, please visit Student Employment Hiring Managers for a schedule of upcoming trainings and to register for a session.

Student Employee Orientation

The New Student Employee Orientation is designed to give new student workers an understanding of the guidelines around working at Tulane and the resources available to them as employees. Topics covered in the orientation are:

  • Benefits of student employment
  • Professional expectations
  • Getting paid and timekeeping
  • Policies and guidelines
  • Resources and support

The orientation will be mandatory for all new hires and will take place on a monthly basis on the Uptown and Downtown campuses. This orientation qualifies as on-the-job training, so students will need to be compensated by their hiring department. All new students will automatically be invited to an orientation using the Bridge system.

For more information and a schedule of orientation dates please visit Student Employment.
