Dear Supervisors, This email is being sent in response to the questions/requests received to allow an extension to the current vacation carryover policy. The university has committed to doing everything possible to avoid impacts to employment, benefits, operations, etc., and continues to make decisions to support financial sustainability during a time when much of the nation is facing financial uncertainty for the foreseeable future.
With this in mind, there will be no changes to allow an extension to the current vacation carryover policy which can be found on page 63 of the staff handbook. Employees should plan to adhere to the current policy, which allows employees to carryover up to their annual vacation accrual amount on their anniversary date. For example, if you accrue 112.5 vacation hours annually, you will forfeit any hours over 112.5 on your anniversary date. Please encourage employees to use vacation time to the extent it supports operations to avoid losing time. There is also the option to donate vacation time.
