Tulane Staff Legacy Award

The Tulane Staff Legacy Award which became effective January 1, 2016, is bestowed on those staff employees who voluntarily leave the university in good standing after 25 years of continuous, full-time staff employment at Tulane. Those whose service has been awarded legacy status may maintain an active Tulane email account, participate in the extended tuition waiver program,* maintain library privileges, have access to Tulane dining facilities, access the Reily Center at employee rates, receive discounted tickets for athletic events and the bookstore and have access to lectures, concerts and theater performances on campus that are open to the university community. *Extended tuition waiver benefit is available to all staff employees who meet eligibility requirements as outlined in the staff handbook regardless of Legacy Award status.

Eligibility

Staff employees are eligible for the Tulane Staff Legacy Award if the following requirements are satisfied:

  • Must be classified as a full-time staff member.
  • Must have completed 25 years of continuous service with the university.
  • Is in good standing with the university at the time of separation.
     
Criteria

The employee must have communicated a committed date of separation to their supervisor and/or department head.

Selection Process
  • Nominations should be initiated within 60 days prior to the employee’s planned separation date.
  • Using the nomination form, the employee’s supervisor may recommend “legacy” status to the department head for approval.
  • The department head shall forward the approval to the appropriate Senior Officer for approval.
  • The senior officer's approval is forwarded to the Office of Human Resources at hr@tulane.edu for processing.

After the Office of Human Resources has processed the nomination, the employee will be informed by the senior officer that Legacy Status has been approved.
