Wave of Green Day of Service — Save the Date

Wave of Green Day of Service – Tulane University

Mark your calendars — Tulane's annual Wave of Green Day of Service is returning on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, and we want you to be part of it! This year is especially meaningful as the Center for Public Service (CPS) celebrates 20 years of fostering connections between Tulane and the New Orleans community. Join your fellow faculty and staff for a day of hands-on service alongside the local organizations and neighbors that make our city great.

Stay tuned — more details and communications will be shared soon. In the meantime, here's everything you need to know to start planning ahead.

Date: Wednesday, May 20, 2026

Check-in Opens: 7:45 a.m.

Check-in Location: Avron B. Fogelman Arena, Devlin Fieldhouse

Transportation: Round-trip transportation to service sites provided

Lunch: Celebratory closing lunch included

What to Expect

Volunteers will check in at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse, where buses will transport everyone to their assigned partner locations across the city. Upon arrival, representatives from the community organization and CPS staff will provide a brief orientation. Restrooms, snacks, and water will be available throughout the day. Once service activities are complete, everyone will return to campus for a celebratory closing lunch.

Each volunteer will receive a commemorative Wave of Green t-shirt upon check-in — all are encouraged to wear it throughout the day.

What to Wear and Bring

Please dress comfortably and come prepared for an active day outdoors. Here's what we recommend:

  • Closed-toed, athletic shoes
  • A refillable water bottle
  • Hat and sunscreen for those working outside
  • Bug spray for outdoor sites

Volunteers will receive additional instructions in their registration confirmation email closer to the event. To be respectful of those with allergies and environmental sensitivities, please refrain from wearing strong fragrances.

Northshore Volunteers

Faculty and staff at the Primate Center may volunteer for service projects on the Northshore. For more information, please contact Giselle McKinney at gmckinne@tulane.edu or Amber Teasley at abrignac@tulane.edu.

Recording Time Off in WaveWorks

Day of Service does not count against employees' vacation or sick hours. Both exempt and non-exempt employees should log their time by submitting a time-off request in WaveWorks and selecting the pay code "Day of Service." Volunteers are free to leave for the day following the celebratory closing lunch and do not need to return to work.

Accessibility

The Center for Public Service is committed to hosting inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals, including those with disabilities, to fully participate. Volunteers in need of accommodations may make a request on the registration form. For additional assistance, please contact Emily Riemer, Program Manager, Community Partnerships:
