The Federal Work Study (FWS) Program provides eligible students with the opportunity to earn income through part-time employment to help cover educational and living expenses. Funded by the federal government and administered by Tulane, the program follows guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Education.
Key Information
FWS jobs allow students to earn money while attending classes.
Funds earned are paid directly to the student via payroll and are not applied to tuition or University balances.
Students may earn up to the amount of their FWS award, based on their hourly wage and hours worked.
Finding a Job
All FWS jobs are posted on Handshake alongside other on-campus opportunities.
To search specifically for FWS positions:
Select “All Filters” on Handshake
Check the box labeled “Work Study”
Tip: You can still apply to non-FWS jobs if you're not awarded FWS
The hiring process is the same for FWS and non-FWS roles. For step-by-step guidance, visit the Student Employment Guide to Finding an On-Campus Job.
