Affirmative Action

Tulane is an equal-opportunity employer and is committed to excellence through diversity. As a federal contractor, Tulane University is required by the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) to identify and provide an Affirmative Action plan that contains affirmative action goals.

The plan provides us with a guide in monitoring our progress and developing operational processes to enhance equal opportunity in all areas of recruitment & employment. It empowers us to utilize good faith efforts in all hiring activities. This allows us to address any barriers in our process that could contribute to the underutilization of protected classes, including women, minorities, individuals with disabilities, and veterans within Tulane’s employment community.

Below we share the current affirmative action plan, goals, and tools.

Recruiting for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

Recruitment is one of the most important and foundational steps of a search. An exceptional applicant pool is made up of qualified and diverse applicants.

The Institutional Equity team supports departments across the Tulane community in maintaining a diverse, highly qualified, and inclusive workforce. We have contracted with Insight Into Diversity Career Center, a premier higher education online diversity job board, to take all our staff and faculty positions and post them to multiple diverse job boards.

Furthermore, for faculty recruitment, we have The National Registry of Diverse & Strategic Faculty, which connects faculty job positions with faculty job seekers. To use The Registry, you will need the account login: Institution (limited access), username: tulaneoie2017 and password: post.

Staff Search Waivers

Tulane University is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to qualified persons without regard to race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy, marital status, or any other status or classification protected by federal, state or local law.

As a federal contractor, Tulane is required by the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) to identify job groups where underutilization occurs, establish affirmative action goals for those job groups, and make good faith efforts to achieve those goals.

  •  Executive and senior management positions
  •  Positions filled internally (lateral moves, transfers, promotions, etc.)
