Time Off & Holidays

At Tulane, we understand that there are a number of reasons why you may need to be away from work. Our time away policies provide a variety of competitive options to accommodate diverse needs and life events, including time off for vacation, observing holidays, sick leave, caring for a family member, the birth or adoption of a child, the loss of a family member, and more. Take a look at the benefits we offer that give you the freedom to enjoy life and take care of things that really matter.

Leave Management

During your career, circumstances may arise that require prolonged or intermittent absences from work due to medical reasons. Tulane University provides its employees Family Medical Leave and Pregnancy Leave guaranteed to eligible employees by federal and state law. In addition, the university provides up to four consecutive weeks of paid Parental Leave for eligible parents for both natural birth and adoption.

Child Care

Tulane University offers two child care centers on its downtown and uptown campuses. Kidopolis Child Development Center by Bright Horizons is located downtown in the Central Business District and provides programs designed for children six weeks to five years of age.  Newcomb Children's Center is on Tulane's uptown campus and offers programs for children from twelve months to five years of age.

Employee Assistance Program

The university understands how challenging it can be to balance your work and personal life, and we are committed to helping you do just that. That's why the university contracts with an outside vendor, New Directions, to provide an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). New Directions offers solutions for living well at home and at work. New Directions counselors provide confidential support for a variety of concerns, from coping with stress to information and support on financial issues, child care, legal issues, relationships, and other life challenges. Their goal is to help you live a happier, more fulfilling life, today and every day.

Wellness

Our mission is to create and maintain a culture of holistic health and wellness for all Tulane employees and the Tulane community, which includes our faculty, staff, and academic community. Through health education and the wellness activities offered by TU Wellness, our colleagues will be enabled to maintain healthy lifestyles, which will result in improved employee engagement, increased productivity, and smarter utilization of available employee benefits.

Breastfeeding Program

The Tulane Breastfeeding Program is a campus-wide initiative to protect, promote, and support students, staff, and faculty mothers who breastfeed. Tulane University provides lactation support through multiple lactation rooms on campus and a policy for staff that complies with the law.
