The Office of Human Resources and Institutional Equity have merged to strengthen our efforts in honoring and advancing diversity. We have embarked upon a transformational journey to establish a new approach to fostering a diverse and inclusive community for all Tulanians. We will accomplish this through innovative educational programs, by piloting a conflict resolution program, as well as offering a higher level of service as we continuously improve processes which promote diversity to ensure our environment is discrimination, harassment and retaliation free.

As such, the Institutional Equity team is offering new and innovative educational and training programs on a broad range of topics including diversity in recruiting, civil treatment education, unconscious bias, as well as sexual harassment prevention and discrimination education to learn how to recognize, respond and report incidents.

We are also piloting a conflict resolution program to the Tulane community.  The goal of this program is to build a workplace environment that is enriched by our differences. The program is designed to encourage our community to take a positive and proactive approach to resolving conflicts and disputes in the workplace. This program will create opportunities for staff and faculty to have difficult conversations, to be heard and better understood, and to build a common foundation for moving forward because we believe our differences make us stronger.

To further our commitment to excellence through diversity, we are improving our processes to make it easier to reach our affirmative action goals through increased communication, sharing best practices and by streamlining the search waiver process.  Our goal is to provide a higher level of service to you while demonstrating our commitment to recruit and retain a diverse workforce.

Finally, we remain dedicated to ensuring the Tulane community is discrimination, harassment and retaliation free. In partnership with the Presidential Commission on Race and Tulane Values, we will be releasing annual reports to gauge on our progress on incidents received and investigated. As always, when a concern is reported, it is thoroughly investigated. We have an experienced investigation team who is here to inform, educate and support all participants through this process.

We look forward to working with you and building partnerships in support of our new direction.  If you have questions, please visit our website or contact us at oie@tulane.edu or at 504-862-8083.
